While all auto manufacturers are donating their time and skill creating quality vehicles for drivers, not all of them can say that they’ve donated a Toyota donates to Special Olympicsmajor amount to such a good cause as the Special Olympics. Toyota has recently earned itself added distinction as an automobile maker that goes above and beyond expectations. In July, Toyota dealerships in the Southern California area presented a check of $110,200 to the Special Olympics event taking place in the city of Valencia.

The generous support from Toyota to the Special Olympics USA organization is not only taking place in the state of California though. Toyota will, in fact, continue its support and sponsorship of the humanitarian group throughout the entire country with a new campaign for fundraising heading into the organization’s big event. These efforts on the part of the automaker will work to help Special Olympics coaches and athletes make it to the World Games, which takes place in Los Angeles from July 25 to August 2.

Prior to the presentation of their large charitable donation at the ceremony, Toyota was lending a hand to the Special Olympics in a very suitable way — by providing vehicles. The automaker gave the group several vehicles to use for its first ever awareness-spreading relay that spanned the country from the end of May through early July. Toyota will now be the Official Automotive Sponsor for the Special Olympics at the 2015 World Games.

Vehicles today have come a long way from the bare bones features of yesterday. Airbags, crumple zones, reinforced beams in the frames. All of these things have saved lives. But automakers aren’t content to rest on that alone. With constant change and innovations, your Serving Ozark Area tells you about what’s in store for the safety of tomorrow.

New Kinds of Airbags

The easiest thing to do for safety is to build on what already exists. That’s why automakers are making airbags smarter and smarter. Using sensors in the seats and other strategic locations, airbags can determine how to deploy based on the crash conditions. New airbag types, like external ones for pedestrian collisions, are also on deck.

Automated Safety

Recently, several vehicles received a zero fatality ranking. That means that in all the crashes involving those models, not one single person was killed. How? New technology that brakes before you can or that warns you about a possible collision with someone in your blind spot.

Vehicles That Talk

With the next generation of on-board technology, you’re likely to start seeing cars that talk to each other. Sadly, this isn’t Knight Rider quite yet, but your car will be able to detect the speed and direction of other vehicles on the road and warn you accordingly.

Driverless Technology

Of course, the big thing several companies are working on is a driverless car that is market ready. In the meantime, smaller steps like adaptive cruise control that can increase or decreased speed and even make slight turns is what you can expect in the near future.

Valeting the carThere is nothing more frustrating than opening up your car door and seeing that it is in complete disarray. There is garbage stuffed in the console, the kids have littered their toys and snack wrappers all over the back seat and there is just junk everywhere. If your car is untidy, unorganized and just plain old messy, you’ll love these tips from.

Tips to an Organized and Neat Car

Follow these tips and you’ll be able to keep your car nice and tidy all the time.

  • Clean it out. The first step to getting a neat, clean and organized car is to clean the entire thing out. Take everything out of it and then go through it all. Trash the junk and make a pile of things that you absolutely have to have in your car.
  • Add storage. Yes, the storage pocket on the back of the passenger seat and the glove compartment can be used for storage, but it’s probably not enough. To create more storage space, hang one of those over-the-door shoe organizers in the trunk. You can place items that you need in each compartment, like handy wipes, kid’s toys, extra clothes, etc. They’ll be neat and easy to locate.
  • Get a trash bin. Garbage can easily accumulate in a car because there often isn’t a place to put it. To prevent that garbage from adding up, put a trash bin on the floor in the back seat. You, the kids and any other passenger will have a place to put their garbage.

Summer is right around the corner, which means that the high temperatures and high humidity are, too. When the temperature outside rises, so does the temperature inside your car, and there’s nothing more uncomfortable than opening up a car door and being hit with sweltering heat. Your dealer wants you to stay comfortable this summer, which is why they want to offer you these tips for keeping your car cool in the summer.

Cool Car Tips

Put these tips into practice and your car will be nice and cool, no matter how hot it gets outside.

  • Park in the shade. While it may seem obvious to say, this is something that is often overlooked. Find a shady spot, even if it’s further away. It’s worth it to walk a little further and have a cool car than to park right in front in the blaring sun.
  • Put up a sunshade. Always keep a sunshade in the trunk and put it up when you park. This is particularly handy if you are parking in an area that doesn’t have any shade. It’s amazing how much cooler a car can stay when the sun doesn’t beat right inside.
  • Cover the steering wheel. Place a towel or some other cover over the steering wheel while you’re parked. This will protect the steering wheel and prevent you from burning your hands when you drive.
  • Keep the windows cracked. This will allow air to circulate inside, which will really help to keep things cool.
