The Wiregrass Museum was founded in 1988 with the purpose of improving the quality of life in Dothan. The museum receives donations from both private donors and the City of Dothan to operate, and provides educational programs for all ages.
Summer Camps at the Wiregrass Museum
Every summer, the Wiregrass Museum is home to a variety of art-based summer camps. Create art books, experience a visual arts camp, or play with clay. Each summer, your child can enjoy new art experiences.
Art Exhibits
Exhibits at the Wiregrass Museum change regularly so you can see something new every time you visit the museum. Current exhibits include:
- Barbara Mann: Transformation & Evolution – metal and jewelry artistry
- Frank Gaines: Photo Bucket List Challenge – photography
- Real-Lives: Observations and Reflections by Dale Kennington –paintings of realism
- Selections from the permanent collection – over 600 art works in the museum collection which are rotated frequently
Art Workshops and Education
The museum hosts a wide variety of art workshops and classes for the public. You can take life drawing, painting, metal workshops, or visit with your family on the first Saturday of every month for a free art project.
Local schools enjoy field trips to the museum regularly, including the popular “Smudges” program for third graders.
Museum Memberships
You can become a member of the museum to support the community outreach, workshops, and operating costs of the venue. Memberships include individual memberships and family memberships. You can book birthday parties and other events at the museum if you are a member.
