Do you ever get that urge to get out and explore nature without having to go too far from home? Well, you’re in luck. Dothan has a very special place that might be just what you’re looking for. Have a look at the Westgate Park Trail.

Opportunities for All Levels

The trail is 3.2 miles in length and has only about 269 feet of elevation or hills, making it mild for those who want to leave the climbing gear at home. The trail is designed for hiking, road biking and walking and it’s even pet friendly. You can bring the dog as long as he or she stays on leash.

Natural Beauty

About half the trail meanders through the woods and the other half is open. The surface is clay and there are plentiful wild flowers along the way, depending on the season. If you like to keep track of things, there are mile markers along the way and the distance is just a hair longer than a standard 5K, making it an ideal place to get ready for your next race.

More Than Just A Trail

While the trail might get you in, the rest of the park features everything from an indoor pool to outdoor playing fields. Whether you like soccer, volleyball or prefer to make use of the gym, sauna, fitness room or racquetball courts, the park has you covered. The park is located at 501 Recreation Road in Dothan and you can get more information by phone at (334) 615-3760.
