9295093009_9723abe295_hAlabama offers the best of the American South’s diverse landscapes. From coastal roads to mountain passes and colorful wooded paths, here are some of the best Sunday drives in the state.

1. Lookout Mountain

The Lookout Mountain Parkway is a must-see in autumn. This 93-mile stretch of road between Gadsen, AL and Chattanooga passes through dynamic park land, which means amazing foliage and natural formations like canyons and waterfalls.

2. Coastal Connection

Alabama’s coastline on the Gulf of Mexico is just as lovely as the nation’s more iconic ocean coasts, plus it has some unique Southern charm. The Coastal Connection Scenic Byway runs the length of the Gulf Coast, dotted with small towns and quiet beaches along nature preserves.

3. The Selma to Montgomery March Byway

In 1965, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led his historic march from Selma to the capital city of Montgomery. The path of the march is not only a great way to live some of Alabama’s proud history, it also happens to be 54 miles of gorgeous scenes, including some of the state’s postcard-perfect bridges.

4. Oak Alley

This particularly magical stretch of Shell Road on the Spring Hill College campus in Mobile is just as good for a stroll as for a drive. The dramatic oak tree canopy is even more stunning in person than in the many, many photos taken of the site.

There’s no shortage of great Sunday drive locales around Alabama. This list is just a start, but exploration will pay off with a wealth of other scenic paths.

110020892_1cde5ba019_bThere’s nothing better than “new car smell,” but one thing is for certain—it doesn’t last long! After just a few months, even a new car can begin to smell like an old sock, or worse. That’s because moisture, dirt, and grime from the road gets into your car, and the constant in-and-out of passengers brings in more dirt and foreign objects. Well, you don’t have to suffer the “old car smell” anymore. Use these simple tips to help your car smell wonderful again.

Vacuum the Carpeting

Carpet sops up smells like a sponge soaks up water. Dirt from outside, grease from the roads, grime from your shoes, and other items you routinely take into your car, such as snacks and sodas, get ground into the mats. Vacuuming removes odor-bearing particles and, thus, lingering smells.

Clean Out Your Trash

If possible, clean your car every day. Never let food, drinks, or trash spend the night inside your car. Even over the course of a few hours, food and other biodegradables decompose, releasing foul-smelling odors in your car. These particles also collect inside fabric, causing the smell to stick around.

Use Air Fresheners and Odor Eaters

Air fresheners cover up tough smells. You must apply them repeatedly, but they’re generally effective. Look for car-specific air fresheners in automotive stores that work on car interiors. Odor-eating sponges will also suck scents right out of the air.

Make use of these tips, and your car will soon smell like it just rolled off the assembly line.

16471085517_b80c5f9057_hThe most important thing when you have a family is keeping them safe. That is why the 2016 Toyota Sienna places an emphasis on passenger safety with these top life-saving features.

Safety Connect

It is good to know help is there when you need it. With Safety Connect, potentially life-saving assistance is at your fingertips 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Whether you become stranded on the roadside, need emergency help, or find your vehicle stolen, Safety Connect will help. Get a one-year trial with your 2016 Toyota Sienna.

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control

The Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) allows you to use the cruise control with more confidence and safety. This advanced system maintains a set distance between your car and the car traveling in front of you. The DRCC automatically slows your vehicle down, so you don’t have to brake every time the car in front of you changes speed. This prevents potentially dangerous rear-end collisions. You don’t need to worry about becoming distracted from the traffic ahead when keeping tabs on the kids in your back seat.

All-Wheel Drive

The Sienna’s all-wheel drive keeps you and your family safe during adverse weather. The Sienna is the only minivan in the United States offering this feature. On snow, sleet, or icy roads, all-wheel drive traction can help you avoid spin-outs and uncontrolled skids.

The new 2016 Toyota Sienna not only gives you more luxury, features, and options, but it also gives you the most important thing of all—safety and peace of mind.

1628774747_fdd088588a_zIf you should ever find yourself on the open road in the great state of Alabama, you owe it to yourself to check out some of the most interesting and unusual attractions on offer in America. Here are a few suggestions, though Alabama has plenty more points of interest for those who love the odd and entertaining.

1. Art of Elberta

Alabama is home to the big, weird, and wonderful work of fiberglass master Mark Cline. His trademark pieces are his dinosaurs: massive interpretations of some of the biggest beasts to ever live on Earth. Cline didn’t stop there, though. In the past decade, he has added a life-size model of Stonehenge to the landscape around Elberta, Alabama. He also expanded his work to the water, bringing the massive “Lady in the Lake” sculpture to the world in 2012.

2. World’s Smallest City Block

While so many roadside attractions boast “The World’s Biggest” something or other, humble Dothan, Alabama aims lower and succeeds spectacularly. The world’s smallest city block, as confirmed by the Guinness Book of World Records, is a gravel triangle in the town. It’s so small and unassuming it’s easy to miss, but worth a detour.

3. Ave Maria Grotto

Brother Joseph Zoettl had a love of great, ancient cities. So, he crafted this amazing collection of miniature buildings from some of the most iconic locales in antiquity, planting it in Cullman, Alabama.

Alabama’s roadside attractions are a great reason to stop and stretch your legs. They’re strange but whimsical, not to mention fun on the cheap.

2t3zfrev1gw237973-1-320If you look around the streets while you’re traveling, you can’t help but notice how crossover SUVs are dominating the roads. When you have a family to haul around or lots of cargo, you need something larger than a car, but you don’t want to break the bank each time you head to the pump. Fuel efficiency is just one reason why crossovers have become more popular than full-sized body-on-frame SUVs. Below we discuss the many benefits of owning a crossover SUV.

Better Safety Than Cars

Safety is always a concern when you buy a vehicle, especially when you have family. Generally speaking, SUVs are safer than cars when you get into a collision, no matter what kind of standard safety equipment is aboard. The reason that passengers will be safer is because of the bigger size than small cars, which makes SUVs better able to withstand an impact.

SUVs and Crossovers Tow Better Than a Car

There are many people out there that have hobbies involving large items, like boats, fishing, motorcycles, ATVs, fishing and more.  These pastimes often require towing. While it is possible to add a towing kit to a car, it will not be nearly as efficient as with an SUV. Many crossovers even come equipped with towing capability and trailer sway control.

Go Off-Road in a Crossover

If you like adventure, it is not recommended that you go off-road in a car. SUVs are better at off-roading because of their higher ground clearance and better transmissions and differentials that are made to perform in off-road situations. Many SUVs and crossovers come with skid plates and other forms of underbody protection, as well as features like low-range gearing and hill descent control.

Stop in to our dealership if you’re interested in a Toyota crossover SUV!
