Kelley Blue Book awarded the iconic Toyota Corolla with a 5-Year Cost to Own Award.  The experts at KBB determined that consumers could expect to spend $30,571 over five years of ownership.  The Toyota Corolla has a lot going for it: low pricing, high resale values, Toyota’s warranty and safety system, low maintenance costs, and style.  It is no wonder why KBB readers gave the Corolla a 9.0 out of 10 consumer rating.

 

A 132-hp 1.8-liter inline-4 sits comfortably under the hood; a 4-speed automatic in the L, which averages 27/36 mpg, accompanies the 4-cylinder engine, and the LE has a CVT automatic that encourages 29/38 mpg.  According to the EPA, the fuel costs for the Toyota Corolla L average $1,700 per year; the LE costs are $1,650 per year.

 

The IIHS rewarded the 2014 Toyota Corolla with a 2013 Top Safety Pick Award, and a 5-star safety rating was earned in NHTSA safety evaluations. Toyota equipped the Corolla with its extensive collection of safety features: ABS, brake assist, stability control, traction control, brakeforce distribution, backup camera, airbags, engine immobilizer and tire pressure monitoring.
