Dec 8, 2015

Toyota introduced the very sporty and sleek FR-S in 2013 and folks were more than a little impressed. The rear wheel drive car sold well and got excellent reviews but it remained a quiet success, with smaller numbers and a stealthy reputation. It was updated slightly in 2014 and 2015 but the new model for 2016 has made a couple of changes that will make buyers very happy.

Interior Perks

One of the few complaints buyers had, was a less than exciting all black interior. The 2016 Scion FR-S model will have silver colored trim on everything from the dash to the center console, doors and steering wheel. Even spiffier, is the new, standard 7-inch touch-screen display that will control a wide variety of functions. It will be like have a small tablet permanently mounted to your dash.

The Outside Gets Updated Too

Big news for those into brighter colors is the introduction of two new exterior choices. For the classic sporty look, Ablaze Red will put you up there with the Italian classics. For those who prefer a calmer tone, they can pick the new Oceanic Blue. Either one compliments the car’s sleek lines.

Still A Bargain

All these updates come at a price, but far less than you’d think. The price for the base model with the above goodies (and even a backup camera) is $26,075, only $405 more than the 2015 price. That car comes with a 6-speed stick and if you prefer that F-1 feel, you can have a six-speed paddle shifted automatic for only $1100 more
