Where to Get Away for the Holidays in Alabama

The end of summer is fast approaching, and that means that the beginning of the holiday season is almost here. You work hard all day long and the holidays are a chance to get away for a while. Here is a look at where to get away for the holidays in Alabama.

Birmingham, AL

About 3.5 hours northwest of Dothan is Birmingham. Birmingham is one of the most well-known cities in Alabama for its historical and cultural significance. During the holidays, there is plenty to do there like the ZooLight Safari at the Birmingham Zoo. The zoo is decorated for the holidays with more than one million lights and holiday decorations. For the kids, there are rides and other activities available. The ZooLight Safari opens December 9 and ends on December 31.

Eufaula, AL

Only one hour north of Dothan is Eufaula, which is known for its historic homes. The city preserves many of the antebellum homes in the area and hosts tours of them for visitors. This year will mark the 11th anniversary of the Christmas Tour of Homes. The tour is a great way to get away from home, and the tickets only cost $6.
