When the sunshine arrives, Dothan and the surrounding areas will come to life, too. There are several great shows and festivals planned for locals that will get you in the mood for the summer. Find out more about what’s happening below.

  1. Springtime Tallahassee Festival

This spring, you will need to head down to Tallahassee for the festival, which is now a two-day event. On April 6-7, you will find a street parade, music jam, and the Jubilee in the Park, with the display of over 200 arts and craft vendors. For the kids, you will find face painting, magic shows, and educational programs at E. Peck Greene Park.

  1. Spring Flower Show

Make sure you visit Wetumpka for the Spring Flower Show at Jasmine Hill from April 6 to 29. The show will be open every weekend in the 20-acre flower garden, featuring colorful flowering shrubs. You can find roses, delphinium, double Japanese cherry trees, and different annuals blossoming.

  1. Tri-State BBQ Festival

There is no better way of starting off the barbeque season than visiting the Houston County Farm Center on Saturday, Apr. 9. You can sample some of the best local food or take part in a BBQ competition for cash prizes.

Whether you are looking for live music or kids’ activities, you will find the right event in and around Dothan.  Sample local farmers’ produce, listen to music on the street, or simply admire the flowers in bloom. Clear your calendar and plan your visit to one of these events.
