Leave Space Tractor-trailers are very heavy and so it follows that they have a longer brake time than other vehicles. Give them plenty of space when you're driving so that they have appropriate room to brake. This is especially important if you merge in front of a truck. Merging and then braking in front of a tractor-trailer can spell tragedy. Another reason to leave space is to avoid buffeting winds. Tractor-trailers often create wind channels behind them which can affect lighter cars and cause them to fishtail. Dothan Visitor's Bureau Dothan's Visitor's Bureau is a great place to start for visitors and residents who want to learn more about the city. From maps to tour information, the bureau has a wealth of information. It's also home to one of the Peanuts Around Town installations: the Elvis Nut! Rocking the signature glitzy costume and a cool hairdo, this is a must-see for Elvis fans. Downtown Dothan Downtown has several peanuts on display for your viewing pleasure. Check out the Downtown Peanut, which holds the directory sign to the bustling downtown area. It was the first peanut on public property and is a favorite with guests. The Paper Boy is located outside of The Dothan Eagle and is a fun nod to Dothan's past. Ross Clark Circle Another favorite is the collection of peanuts representing the armed forces, each with a different design. They can be found on Ross Clark Circle, just outside the Tuffy Auto Service Center. Technology The multimedia system has a 7-inch touchscreen with integrated navigation, six-speaker audio with satellite HD radio, Bluetooth with voice activation, smartphone integration, and auxiliary and USB ports. Engine and Performance Powering the Yaris is a 106 horsepower 1.5-liter engine producing 103 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels. With the L and LE trims, you get a six-speed manual transmission. The XLE offers a six-speed automatic transmission with Sport and Normal driving modes. The automatic models return up to 32 mpg in the city and 40 mpg for highway driving. Safety Features The Yaris has a low-speed pre-collision system as standard, along with electronic traction and stability control. Most of them capture important aspects and moments of Dothan's and Alabama's history. After a tour of the city, one can quickly see why Dothan is called Alabama's Mural City. Take a day trip and check out some of our favorite murals in the area. The Steamboat Era In the 1800s, roads were sparse and steamboats were the most efficient forms of travel. This is a beautiful mural that commemorates the area's steamboat heritage — a massively important part of Alabama's identity. It captures the Chattahoochee River in all its glory, as well as the boats that navigated it. This mural is on North Foster Street. DeSoto's Journey Through the Wiregrass Region This mural takes a look back to the Spanish exploration party that traveled through the region, bringing European influence to North America. The mural features explorer DeSoto and his party meeting the Creek Indians. This mural is on Museum Avenue and Poplar Head. The Dothan Riot This is an action-packed snapshot of the 1889 tax riot that happened on the streets of Dothan. After Dothan was incorporated, a tax was placed on every commercial vehicle that came through the city. Two people died and several were wounded from this riot. The mural is located on South St. Andrews Street. All the murals of Dothan paint a small portion of the rich and varied history of the area. Make sure you take some time to see them all.

Highland Oaks is on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail and has a nine-hole short course in addition to the three nine-hole championship courses. Westgate Park and Recreation Center Westgate Park is Dothan's biggest city park and is composed of a five-field softball complex, a six-field baseball complex, tennis courts, special-needs sports fields, and a football stadium.
