In the past decade, he has added a life-size model of Stonehenge to the landscape around Elberta, Alabama. He also expanded his work to the water, bringing the massive "Lady in the Lake" sculpture to the world in 2012. 2. World's Smallest City Block While so many roadside attractions boast "The World's Biggest" something or other, humble Dothan, Alabama aims lower and succeeds spectacularly. The world's smallest city block, as confirmed by the Guinness Book of World Records, is a gravel triangle in the town. It's so small and unassuming it's easy to miss, but worth a detour. 3. Ave Maria Grotto Brother Joseph Zoettl had a love of great, ancient cities. So, he crafted this amazing collection of miniature buildings from some of the most iconic locales in antiquity, planting it in Cullman, Alabama. The 11 sites, 26 courses and 468 holes, including Dothan’s own Highland Oaks, make up a public system second to none. And not only are the courses public, they benefit the public and the Retirement System of Alabama, which started the project back in the 1980s. Designed By the Best When the system was being envisioned, the folks in charge wanted to create a system that was top notch from the start, so they wanted the best designer they could find. Enter Robert Trent Jones, Sr. who designed more than 500 courses all over the world. After he came on board, work geared up and eight sites with 18 courses were started all at once. Continued Growth After the first eight sites were finished, things were still not done.
